Energy & Compatability

I was socializing and people watching at an event recently. The crowd wasn't too packed as I was able to move around freely. I noticed some couples on the dance floor and a few more off to the side. They seemed happy to be together and to be at the party. I also noticed several guys just standing in a row to the other side. I could tell they were trying to scope out the ladies. This is a part of the dating ritual that is as old as promenading in the park on a Sunday afternoon. The guys all had a drink in their hand as they watched me and several other females on the dance floor and around the room. How do I know they were watching me? The eye contact of course (and I looked good that night, lol).

Unfortunately, no one stepped to me on the dance floor. So I kept dancing and people watching. It didn't phase me because I love to dance and I was in my element. I thought about it later on as I tried to figure out why no one came up to dance. As the night unfolded, I finally figured it out. The energy you give off determines who comes towards you and who goes away from you. My energy was that of inviting and playful. Yet, to the untrained or timid, my energy & light can be a bit much. That's okay because I am not in the habit of training someone's grown son. The energy that exists in and around me is one that I protect and love about myself. As the night progressed, I met a guy and that was one of the main things that drew him towards me (that and my nose ring). His comment was that I appeared to be more inviting than the females at the other table. I take this as a compliment. From there I can decide if his energy is compatible with mine and if I want to continue the conversation.

The power of choice is a strong quality that we can hold onto when faced with the decision to make an experience one of regret or opportunity. For those of you in your dating season, don't be so quick to brush off someone that approaches you. Give it a moment and connect within yourself to determine if their energy is compatible with yours. If it isn't, don't force it just because they look good or it is the end of the night. It's okay to say "No, thank you" to someone. It is also okay to say "Yes" to exchanging contact information and dating multiple people at one time. You do not have to give your energy away to everyone. Just open the window and see what the world has to offer.
